On why starting a blog is a pain in the ass

I think the toughest part of starting a blog is deciding how much of your personality you want to wear on your blogsleeves.

About half of my friends put a bit of their uniqueness into their URLs (see Kriston, Catherine, and Spencer), and owing to their inspiration, I considered a few different URLs myself: lasttangoincyberspace.typepad.com, toohotforrawstory.typepad.com, etc.

The other half of my friends are eponymous, but have cute little subtitles for their blogs (see Ezra and Matt). And so I mulled a few titles of my own: "Proudly eponymous since...pretty late in the game" and "today's media conspiracy postponed until a date to be announced sometime in the future".

But in the end I settled on this deeply impersonal template (thanks Brad) because... well I guess I have no real rationale. Maybe it's because I want my few, but dedicated readers to cull my personality from the blog itslef. Or maybe it's because I will probably know all my readers personally anyhow, so why bother with pretense. YOU ALREADY KNOW ME. So. Welcome.
