Energy bill passes Senate

This bill is probably a net positive (given that we started from negative gazillion), but it's still not much more than an incremental improvement. So hooray for no new CTL subsidies. Boo to old oil industry still existing. Small hooray for 35 mpg CAFE standards. And boo to no provision to ratchet those standards up.

That's my perfectly mature spectator analysis of the bill as it looks today. Now we can sit back and watch as the carbon lobbies set their sites on the House.

It's a good feeling when with the Dem. majority we get a bill passed on a key topic that we can say 'it could have been much worse'.

[/snark, of the ironic variety]
