Somewhere in my archives I think I referred to the Senate's most recent attempt to resuscitate immigration reform as legislating by Frankenstein. Well, the bill never came to life. Which should have been obvious based upon my metaphor, as Dr. Frankenstein's monster was an anti-scientific work of fiction, while the immigration reform bill was a fiasco that actually happened in the real world. Don't be fooled, kids. Life never ever imitates art.

David Broder aside (and more than a few other 'bi-partisan' worshipers of gods that don't currently exist), there really is no point to trying to craft legislation that requires a super-majority to withstand a veto (and filibustering, delay, and obfuscation from the GOP). The GOP isn't really interested in legislation before 08 enough to allow the Dems what looks like a victory. This is like HillaryCare in 93/94 with the GOP (under McConnell in the Senate) like Dole earlier. Remember then, Dole introduced a 'bipartisan compromise' on health care to divert attention from the Hillary plan, and then voted against his own bill.
I hope the stake is planted deep enough in this monster's heart that it stays stuck to the ground for about two years (or more if necessary).
Congress might as well spend its time investigating and trying to impeach instead of futile attempt to get actual, you know, laws past a minority bent on obstruction, denial, and know-nothingism, and a President who only likes laws that destroy the Constitution.
