Under the bus

I think at this point Larry Craig has fewer friends in his own party than a fat kid in middle school.

Add the governor of Idaho to the list of people calling on him to step down. Though I suppose that's predictable. Better for Governor Otter to pick a strong (read straight) replacement from within the GOP than risk losing the seat to a Democrat in '08.

Still I think it's worth remembering how desperately the GOP attempted to shield Messrs. Delay, Cunningham, Pombo, and others from any recriminations for their corruption, and making the point that in conservative politics it's a much, much better move to deeply undermine good governance than it is to be caught gay-handed.
