Almost daily Corner bashing

Conservatives have also noticed Andrew Tilghman's Washington Monthly article, and are bringing ammo! Stanley Kurtz:

The buzz on the left-blogosphere today is all about an article by Andrew Tilghman, an Iraq correspondent for Stars and Stripes newspaper in 2005 and 2006, entitled "The Myth of AQI." Tilghman argues that, like the missing WMD’s, the presence of the terrorist group known as "al–Qaeda in Iraq" (AQI) is largely a myth. That’s pretty interesting, given that the cover story of the Standard this week is an excellent piece by Frederick Kagan entitled, "Al Qaeda in Iraq: How to understand it. How to defeat it." I take on Tilghman here.

Kagan, as an unyielding supporter of the war that brought AQI to any level of prominence in the first place, the architect of the policy that's doing nothing to diminish it, and a man with perverse incentives to overstate the power the group he pretends to understand, is probably the person in the world with the least authority to write an article called "Al Qaeda in Iraq: How to understand it. How to defeat it." Read the Tilghman piece instead.

I'm in an angry Friday AM mood. I'm ready to change the rules on legal punishments and torture. My first change:

Any hawkish wingut, like Fred Kagan, should be ritually castrated on the steps of the Supreme Court for the crime of false war encitement. And leave the testicles behind on the steps (with a nameplate) as a warning to future violaters.

I'll bring the pig-nut cutters.
