Biden: Terrorist pardoner?

One of the overlooked moments of last nights debate was, I think, the moment about eight and a half minutes into this video clip--when Joe Biden claimed, with unusual blase, that if a terrorist under torture divulged the location of a bomb, he'd get a pardon. The torturer, on the other hand, would get the brig.

This is, I think, actually the right policy: Offer detainees incentives to provide accurate information, and accurate information is what we'll get. Still, if Clinton or Obama or Edwards had suggested that they'd pardon a terrorist, the Republicans and the media would have turned it into a gaffe for the ages.
