Russ Feingold points out the important fact that troop deaths, though down relative to previous weeks, are up relative to the same month the previous year. Which is, of course, the only relevant way to look at these statistics. Petraeus dodges completely...looks exhausted and utterly defeated.

This looks like one of the few times when Bush/GOP conversion of the Petraeus/Crocker 'report' into a fairly transparent partisan affair has not worked in their favor: they have opened the door to a more partisan Dem. pushback - one that fits the public's existing view that Petraeus is a GOP operative primarily.
They (BushCo) will regret making this into a partisan circus.
I have a hunch that the "statistics" are not all they seem to be. The only real numbers that are published are deaths and wounded. What you are not seeing are these numbers in relation to numbers of exercises, for example, foot patrols, neighborhood sweeps, etc. What I HAVE been hearing is an increase in drone useage, including missle attacks.
