Inhofe, O'Hanlon, Pollack, and science

A new low in a lot of ways: James Inhofe, whose scientific credentials need no introduction, has just applauded General Petraeus'...unusual?...statistics, and then pointed to the Ken Pollack and Michael O'Hanlon op-ed as evidence that those statistics accurately reflect the growing peace in Iraq. Petraeus, O'Hanlon, and Pollack still enjoy a great deal of respect. But if they had to wear as medals (or on their Brookings Institution CVs) their endorsement by James Inhofe, I'm fairly certain that respect would dry up in short order.
