McConnell's honesty

Think Progress isn't letting up on DNI Mike McConnell, and, it seems, for good reason. First he told the Senate about the new FISA's role in upending a terrorist strike in Germany, then he waited silently for several days as everybody pointed out how hugely dishonest this was, then finally issued a statement making precisely the opposite claim he'd made to Joe Lieberman. He didn't suggest, mind you, suggest that he'd misspoken, let alone suggest that he intended to correct the congressional record. Which I suppose means that he intends to confuse the public as a standard mode of professional conduct.

Also, even if it's a lie, shouldn't it be classified information to say publicly that new provisions of an old law were key in foiling a terrorist plot? Doesn't George Bush get pissed when that sort of information leaks? (Don't answer.)
