Democratic awesomeness

Now that the House has pulled RESTORE and the Senate has reached a "compromise" with the White House (the kind that involves the Senate giving the White House everything it wanted and receiving nothing in return), how far short do you think Democrats will fall today in the veto override vote?

I think that this is why "compromise" is such a bad word in politics. It can either mean real compromise, where BOTH sides shift a bid to find an acceptable common ground (com + promise, get it?), or it can mean capitulation (as in morally compromising).

I feel like all politicians use compromise as shorthand for "submission", and it gets really fishy whenever I hear one party claiming they offered a generous compromise but the other side just didn't take them up on it.

I'm looking forward to the press conference afterwards, where Reid and Pelosi explain how it was totally badass how the Dems got their asses kicked - again! - by a guy without control of either chamber and a 24% job approval number.

I guess I'm almost past embarassment on how craven the Dems are regarding what they are willing to really fight for. Almost nothing, it seems.

But, I have nowhere to go with my support, and I'd be every more red-faced if Guiliani, Thompson or Romney betters the Dem. candidate - honestly or dishonestly. So, WTF.

Maybe the Congress should just pass some continuing resolutions for the budget and adjourn unti Jan. 09. Let's have a real do-nothing Congress instead of do-bad Congress.

It's a race to second-to-last place!
