Team Bush: Crazier than before? Or always equally crazy?

White House spokesman Tony Fratto:

"I wouldn't call it stepping up the rhetoric," he told reporters after Bush said last week that a nuclear-equipped Iran evoked the threat of "World War III," and Vice President Dick Cheney warned of "serious consequences" for Iran... "it's not at all different from what he has said before, what the president has said before, what Secretary Rice has said before."

Interesting that when confronted with the bat guano that's been coming out of George Bush's and Dick Cheney's mouths, Fratto defended his bosses by casually pointing out that they've always been this crazy. But it in no way means we're approaching a stable relationship with Iran. It's more likely a sign that things on that front are as delicate and dangerous as ever, and that Tony Fratto's just not very good at his job.
