It sure seems sensible to me that we should be investing some big bucks in trying to understand, and find mitigations for, teenage rebellion - particularly against their parents, but also generally against society (the general order of things).
Frankly, I don't understand how parents are supposed to cope with this phenomena (and I'm glad I don't face this situation, at the same time as I deeply empathize with those who do).
As to this particular science-based study, a non-scientist (but a human that went through puberty) like myself sure can understand that sexual hormones do in fact change teen behavior dramatically. But I'm equally sure that the insights of this research will be 'cherry-picked' for political use (while laughing at the implications of the use of the phrase 'cherry-picked' in this context).
Some truths are just too inconvenient to be accepted, particularly in the US with its sharp divide between different belief systems (approach to social problems).
If I were the 'sex czar', I'd be promoting the view that the bonobos free-style sex (see here and here) is a better social solution, even compared to our other near relative, the chimps - which share our aggression without recourse to sex as a social lubricant as do the bonobos.
