George Bush on avoiding war:

"What the Iranian regime must understand is that we will continue to work together to solve this problem diplomatically, which means they will continue to be isolated."

Meanwhile, the mechanism by which this version of diplomacy is supposed to entice Iran to change any of its behavior is a mystery that only a few heralded foreign relations experts such as George Bush really understand.

Does anyone else notice how often Bush resorts to the 'must understand' phrase in regard to policy and politics? Google shows 417,000 hits to the search for Bush + "must understand".

I think this is likely to be intended as a royal (or godly) command.

I'm expecting any day to be instructed by Bush that we must consistently use the 'royal we' in all communications about his administration.
