Glenn Greenwald is, of course, right to be upset at Harry Reid for everything that's happened with FISA in the last several days, and for now launching a sideways attack on Chris Dodd--the senator who's led the efforts to block the bill--by suggesting that Dodd's driven by presidential ambitions alone. Reid says he'll pull FISA up after Dodd's been eliminated from the race, implying that, with his candidacy scuttled, Dodd will just shut up and do George Bush's bidding.
But, for whatever it's worth, I think this probably makes it more likely that Dodd will continue his efforts to block the bill. Obviously it would be ideal if Dodd had the support of other Democratic leaders, but he doesn't and hasn't and no amount of shaming them seems to make them want to change their minds. Given that situation, Dodd, if only out of pride, has a greater incentive now to continue his filibuster... to prove Harry Reid's got him all wrong.
