Huckabee and energy

Kevin Drum decides to make a good point about something I noticed earlier and ignored.

So when Mike Huckabee told Katie Couric that we ought to be "free of energy consumption in this country within a decade," what do you think he really meant? There are a couple of possibilities, but I suppose the most likely is "free of energy imports," or perhaps "free of foreign oil."

The implication, of course, is that Huckabee doesn't have a clue what he's talking about, and that nobody in the media really seems to care. My own view is that Huckabee wants us all to starve to death. Either that or he wants the United States to drop to an average temperature of just above absolute zero. I'm not really sure which one, but either way, it's nefarious, and unchristian and I don't really like it.
