Making up for the last couple weeks

There's still some approps work that needs to be done--the House needs to re-pass the war-refunding, nuclear subsidizing omnibus bill, etc., etc., so I hold out almost no hope. BUT! One thing Democratic leaders could do to allow...well, me... to begin the holiday recess feeling less-than-terrible about things in Washington, is bring contempt citations in at least the House (but preferably both bodies) to the floor.

Ya, Contempt citations delivered in Happy Holiday cards.

I truly fail to understand why both houses of Congress don't bypass statutory contempt and vote for inherent contempt (which can be brought without a Bush/Cheney US Attorney. They now know (from the DOJ) that they won't enforce a statutory contempt proceeding.

Here is one place where a Bush veto won't work, so failure to act is just cowardice by the Dem. majority. And a GOP filibuster would be very visible to the public.
