The way I see it, progressives like (or say they like) good governance and loathe corruption. As such they gravitate strongly towards politicians like Russ Feingold and make a devil's alliance with politicians like Chuck Schumer. Compare to conservatives, who seem to like wacky tax plans and wars. And as such they gravitate strongly towards politicians like George W. Bush, and make a devil's alliance with people like Chuck Hagel. There's a logic to it!
Contrast to wankers, who allegedly value foggy concepts like intra-party comity and inter-party "straight talk". I don't know who the public face of wankery ought to be, but I do not get the McCain love affair. He should be the shame of the Wanker Caucus--he's good on the comity but one of the least straight-talking men to ever talk. So what gives?
