Keep your dirty laundry to yourself.
Did you count the number of pairs of socks before washing? You could have lost two socks from the same pair, and not have ended up with one singleton.
The cure for this shortage/overage is to buy all socks of the same brand and color. It works!
Oh, and only two loads? I must be a outlier, because two loads is just a warmup for the stress I put on the machine resources in my apartment's 12 washer-10 dryer capacity. Parallel Processing!
I did dual counts. Eight pairs in, eight pairs out.
i give mine names and take roll call. haven't lost one since 1943.
