See, even the lefty, lefty Nation doesn't buy it:
Almost immediately Obama--likely with an eye on national office--shaded himself toward the center. His rhetoric was cool, often timid, not the zealous advocacy on behalf of peace, justice and the dispossessed that had characterized Wellstone's tenure. His record places him squarely in the middle of Democratic senators, just slightly to Clinton's left on domestic issues (he voted against the bankruptcy bill, for example). As a presidential candidate, his domestic policy (with some notable exceptions on voting rights and technology policy) has been very close to that of his chief rivals, though sometimes, notably on healthcare, marginally less progressive.
I guess it doesn't help my argument much that they're still endorsing him in the primary. But don't you think they'd probably have endorsed Russ Feingold if he'd decided to run? Yes. Yes I think so.

Hell, if the Republicans can disinter the moldy body of Reagan, I can do the same with Paul Wellstone! Clearly more liberal than Feingold!
Since this is endorsement season, my sub-prime pundit's endorsement has now been delivered in my comment at Ezra's place (in his article on Chris Hayes's Nation endorsement.)
Yes, we can! Please, those of similar ilk, send Obama-luv money to Barak.
