Well, the story there is that a girl who claimed to be a maternity volunteer testified before Congress under his auspices. She made those allegations. As it turned out, though, it was all bullshit. I believe it turned out she was the daughter of the Kuwaiti ambassador.
When confronted by all this, Lantos basically dodged by claiming that her story was but a thimble in the ocean of genuine human rights violations in Iraq.
So he didn't actually dodge it. He just said lying to the American people doesn't matter if it's in the service of the greater good. Sorry, I don't buy it from Bush et al, and I don't buy it from our dear dead sainted dems either.
