while Obama's done an impressive job of making up lost ground in Ohio, he's going to lose there. The Texas polling, meanwhile, is too close to call. Obama certainly might win it, but he really might lose. Now under the circumstances, I see no real way for Clinton to make up the lost delegate lead, but at this point it does seem to me that she and her campaign staff are probably egomaniacal enough that if they pull out a narrow "win" they'll keep running anyway hoping for lightning to strike and seeing the damage it'll do to the party as a feature, rather than a bug, since a crippled Obama who loses to John McCain could set them up for another run in 2012.
I think this probably overstates things quite a bit. Obviously, the best thing for the Democratic party would be for the two candidates to play nice until tomorrow and then for Clinton to graciously step aside if she doesn't pull off a big win. But in the meantime, it's only Monday, Clinton needs to widen her margins (that's what she's trying to do now) and it would be ridiculous if part of her strategy for improving her odds tomorrow was to admit that she's on the verge of being knocked out. Not too long ago a guy by the name of John Edwards insisted that he planned to stay in the primary all the way until the convention.

What's interesting is that "you guys" (Washington media) keep focusing on "what if Clinton loses?" What if Clinton wins? May not happen, but what if? What if Obama comes down from his pedestal as Messiah and loses today? What if the second coming of Christ fails miserably today? The only menial answer pundits are giving to that question is what Hillary may or may not say, "Obama can't close the deal." Now of course she hasn't said that, so it's amazing to see the crap some people make up. As far as egomaniacs are concerned, don't believe for one minute that Obama isn't reveling in the notion that he's been ostensibly deemed as a Savior. When all else is said and done, hasn't he just really found a clever way to win? He's a politician, nothing more, nothing less. Jesus! What would Samuel Clemens say???
