Lieberman's gavel

If you wield a congressional oversight gavel, and your buddy's in the White House, you might just conduct exactly zero investigations into presidential wrongdoing. But when the election comes, and your other buddy loses to a guy you don't really like, you might think about becoming a real pest to the new administration.

Reid should really strip Lieberman of his chairmanship.

Absolutely strip Lieberman!! The honor of a chairmanship has to be earned. He has certainly not in any way earned his by not even considering investigating any White House wrong-doing. We know there has been plenty to question.

I get slightly nauseated when I think I ever voted for him with Gore. I'd like not to ever see his curly head again!

In addition, his aggressive support of McCain for the last months and his campaigning against President-Elect Obama have made most of us run the gamut from angry to absolutely furious. Get him totally off our team, please!!! It will be interesting to see if he totally votes to the right on everything. We'll see if values change totally when you are forced to leave a caucus.

Lieberman's usefullness to progressives has been usurped by Rahm Emanuel. AIPAC criticism of an Obama Administration will look especially hollow given Rahm's position and influence as Chief of Staff. Emanuel is the alpha dog for Jewish-American voters going forward. And, Lieberman has no use fo Democrats in the US Senate...as he doesn't give them a veto-proof margin, and his chairmanship proved to be utterly worthless.

Joe is simply not worth the trouble he would cause the Democrats. Reid, Boxer and others need to not fall for the ridiculous claim that somehow the definition of "bipartisanship" revolves around Joe Lieberman having his cake and eating it too.

Agreed! The first 2 years of an Obama presidency will be difficult. Bill Clinton said months ago, "Nothing truly prepares you for the Presidency." I have great confidence in Obama, but there will be mistakes and gaffes as he grows into his job. We don't need someone like Lieberman who 'bet the farm' on McCain using a committee position or nominal role as a Democrat to critize Obama while claiming to be 'bipartisan' or 'honest'.

The DEMOCRATIC voters of Connecticut rejected him. He earned consideration for caucusing with the Democrats to keep our majority for awhile, but he spent that coin in this presidential race.

So you think the Senate should be a rubber stamp to Obama? I'm not saying we need someone who is going to go out of his way to make trouble, only cautioning against rubber stamps.

I figure Reid is neither a clown nor a fool, so I figure there's good reason not to rush Lieberman out too quickly. What else, besides zero investigations, is Lieberman faulted for? What do the other members of that Committee think of how he used the power over the past two years?

thats cool. i, for one, am impressed with the hardware. the device, though bulky, is increadibly easy to use and in the 2nd gen zune wouldn't change a thing, same for the ui. Now the part that is irrating me; the fact that the zune seems to be completly abandoned by microsoft. only to 1.4 in almost a year, not good. wifi restrictions need to be lifted to make "the social" work, add video to zm. in short the zune is the only good thing about owning a zune.
