I forgot to say goodbye to Chris Shays. Goodbye Chris Shays! We hardly knew grew to loathe and pity ye!

Also, Barack Obama has supposedly asked Rahm Emanuel to be his Chief of Staff. He'd be well suited to the job in a lot of ways, but if he accepted it, he'd probably be giving up on his well known ambitions within the House. I'm sure that makes Pelosi pleased as punch. And if Obama gets a whip-smart, aggressive chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel gets to be a whip-mart, aggressive chief of staff, and Pelosi gets a pest out of House leadership, then everybody wins, right?

Update: Rahm is in. A Chicago duo who know how to get things done? Or two men of deeply incompatible temperaments who grow to hate each other? Time will tell.
