In an otherwise very insightful post, Ross Douthat writes, "I have a sneaking suspicion that a President Obama will be slightly more likely to authorize airstrikes against Iran than a President McCain would have been." Maybe John McCain would have had a come to Jesus moment on the need for a less bomb-centric approach to foreign policy, or maybe Iran will act more aggressively on the international stage with Obama in office than they would have if McCain had won. We'll never know. But as a proxy for the two men's temperaments and judgment, this is just nuts.
But, as I said, the rest of the post is very good and very plausible.
