No Afghanistan strategy? No help

I don't know if you caught it, but Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper rained all over Barack Obama's Afghanistan parade this weekend. In a taped appearance which aired on CNN this Sunday, Harper said, "frankly, we are not going to ever defeat the insurgency," adding that the United States needs to clearly articulate a strategy before asking other country's to participate. Novel idea!

The segment was recorded a week ago, but ran in the wake of Obama's official announcement that he'd be sending 17,000 additional troops there this year. And in what is quite possibly change we can really believe in, no Obama surrogates have yet taken to the airwaves to accuse Harper of surrender or to call Canada part of Old Europe.
